One of Hyundai’s pillars of success was built on their emphasis on Style and Design.  Years ago, most consumers didn’t look to Hyundai for design.  With the current focus on Fluidic Sculpture, and due to the fact that Hyundai is finding ways to design the interior of their cars with rich features normally found in vehicles that cost thousands more, we dubbed Hyundai this year’s experiential diversity campaign “Innovators of Change.”

To support this overarching theme, our strategy was to bring “Innovators of Change” to life.  With the assistance of N2U Creative Marketing Group, we sought to find African American tastemakers that also had significantly leveraged Style and Design to change the face of their industry.  Our featured hosts engaged the NAACP audience with stories of how they overcame adversity to succeed in their various fields.  Hyundai applauds and recognizes the 2013 Innovators of Change:

Karl Kani – Considered the father of Urban Fashion.  Working without a template, Karl Kani pioneered a movement in Urban Fashion that birthed a billion dollar industry.  Currently, Karl Kani has 10 flagship stores in Japan, and other stores throughout Europe.

Cynde Watson – Owner of Color by Watson.   Beauty Expert for Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, Rachael Ray and many others, Cynde was the first African American women to have her own cosmetic line distributed through Home Shopping Network.

Kelly Price – A multiple Grammy nominated singer and performer, Kelly Price initially broke ground as an award winning songwriter.  Initially passed over because she was not considered the traditional R&B songstress, Kelly continued to win over audiences with her passionate voice.

Andre Hudson – Design Manager, Hyundai Design North America.  Andre was the lead designer behind the revolutionary design of the 2012 Sonata.  Through his work, Hyundai coined he phase Fluidic Sculpture; an automobile design to inhibit the feeling that an object is in motion although it is standing still.

Tobias France – Designer, Hyundai Design North America.  Tobias uses the inspiration of classic cars and modern architecture to develop the design for Hyundai vehicle exteriors.  He seeks to provide the drivers of Hyundai vehicles with an elegant yet race-inspired driving experience.

In their own right, each of our featured host is an “Innovator of Change.”
